Global Human Rights Institute
Terms of Use
The conditions for using our website, publications, courses, memberships, and other institute services.
Effective October 31, 2026 · Version 1.1.8
About these terms
These Terms of Use govern access to this website and the online services operated by Global Human Rights Institute. They should be read with the Privacy Policy and the specific terms shown for a course, membership, event, scholarship, submission, or other program.
Specific purchase terms and signed agreements govern their subject matter. A later change to this page does not silently replace an existing signed agreement or retroactively change an accepted purchase. Mandatory consumer and other legal rights take precedence over any inconsistent term.

Research, education, and organizational status
The institute publishes research and analysis, develops educational programs, and provides the services described on this website. A conservative intellectual perspective informs our inquiry; the Editorial standards and Publication ethics pages explain our commitments. An individual contributor’s views are attributed to that contributor and need not represent every scholar or the institute.
Publications and courses provide general information and education. They are not personalized legal, medical, financial, tax, or other professional advice. Obtain qualified advice for a decision that depends on your own circumstances. Historical documents, official texts, and external news links retain their source and context.
Formation and tax-recognition statements are made on the site’s organizational-status and giving pages. The name “Institute,” a membership, or a payment does not itself establish charitable tax treatment, accreditation, a professional license, or a university affiliation.
Eligibility, minors, and accounts
You must provide accurate information needed for the service and have authority to enter an applicable agreement. Adult self-service enrollment is for people aged 18 or older. Learners aged 13–17 require verified parent or legal-guardian approval before course access is activated. Enrollment under age 13 is not offered. Additional local consent or age requirements continue to apply.
Keep account credentials confidential, use only an account you are authorized to use, and tell us promptly about suspected unauthorized access. Do not share paid access or impersonate another person. We may use reasonable verification and security controls to protect accounts and private records. Microsoft or another approved external sign-in service is also subject to that provider’s terms.
A school or organizational purchase does not authorize access to unrelated users’ private records. Institutional responsibilities, permitted seats, reporting, and guardian arrangements must be stated in the applicable agreement.
Permitted use and respectful participation
You may browse public material and use services made available to you in accordance with the applicable license, these terms, and law. You must not misuse accounts, bypass access controls, interfere with service, distribute malicious files, submit unlawful or deceptive material, harass or threaten people, expose private information without authority, or infringe another person’s rights.
Reasoned disagreement and criticism are welcome. Participation rules address conduct, evidence, and rights, rather than requiring agreement with every viewpoint. Course discussions and live questions may be moderated. Do not record or redistribute a private session, another learner’s work, or personal information without the necessary permission.
Automated access must respect technical restrictions and any applicable license. You may not use a public page as a route into private records or evade rate limits. Contact us about research access that needs a higher volume or a different format.
Website content, photographs, and permissions
Rights in site text, course materials, software, photographs, illustrations, trademarks, and other content belong to the institute or the identified authors and rights holders to the extent protected by law. Public availability does not, by itself, grant permission to republish an entire work or redistribute paid course materials.
Follow a work’s stated license and attribution requirements. A public-domain document remains public domain; we do not claim exclusive rights merely because it appears on this website. Fair use, fair dealing, quotation, accessibility, and other lawful exceptions remain available. Linking to a public page is permitted when it is accurate and does not imply an endorsement.
AI-generated or AI-assisted illustrations are identified in their credit information. Copyright may protect qualifying human-authored contributions, creative editing, or selection and arrangement; purely AI-generated elements do not automatically receive U.S. copyright protection. We do not claim rights that the law does not provide. The Image credits page and individual captions identify provenance and applicable notices. Illustrations are not evidence of a real person, event, institution, or endorsement.
To request a reuse permission not already supplied by a license or law, identify the material and proposed use when contacting us. Third-party permission requests may need to be directed to that rights holder.
Submissions, editorial review, and public profiles
Submitting a manuscript, biography, image, proposal, or application does not guarantee acceptance, publication, employment, a scholarship, or a paid role. Provide accurate authorship, credentials, sources, permissions, and funding or conflict disclosures. Do not submit confidential or identifying information you are not authorized to share.
You retain rights not granted in an applicable agreement. Publication permissions, review confidentiality, compensation, recording, and other material obligations are governed by the relevant signed agreement or expressly stated submission terms. These general website terms do not create an unlimited transfer of a contributor’s copyright.
Editors may request changes, decline work, correct the record, issue an expression of concern, or retract material under the editorial and ethics policies. A donation or membership does not buy publication, a favorable review, a scholarship preference, or influence over an editorial conclusion. Follow the stated appeal or complaint process if you believe a decision or publication is inaccurate or unfair.
Courses, assessments, and certificates
A proposed course is not an open enrollment offer. Enrollment opens only when the institute has approved the instructor, applicable agreements, course terms, and required readiness information. Before purchase or enrollment, review the course’s format, schedule and time zone, prerequisites, tuition, access period, membership inclusion or discount, assessment, cancellation conditions, and any minimum-enrollment requirement.
Courses and completion certificates are nondegree and noncredit unless an individual offering expressly and accurately states otherwise. Completing a course does not guarantee admission to another institution, transfer credit, professional recognition, employment, or any particular outcome.
Meet the published assessment and participation requirements using your own work and acknowledge assistance as instructed. Automated knowledge checks and progress controls can be reviewed if you identify an error. Accessibility needs and alternative formats should be raised with course support. If recording is proposed, applicable notice and consent must be addressed before it occurs.
A certificate program may combine study modules, required courses, knowledge checks, and a human-reviewed capstone. The accepted enrollment terms identify the curriculum version, tuition and currency, access period, assessment and resubmission requirements, completion standard, and certificate conditions. A later catalog or price edit does not silently change an existing accepted enrollment. A certificate is issued only after the required assessments and completion checks pass. The institute may correct or revoke an issued certificate when there is a substantiated administrative error or breach of the accepted assessment terms, with the applicable review process.
Memberships and recurring billing
The selected plan identifies the benefits, price, billing interval, included courses or discounts, access conditions, and any applicable promotional period. Only the benefits expressly included in your plan are part of that purchase; some courses, events, or resources may require separate enrollment or payment.
Recurring monthly or annual memberships renew until canceled in accordance with the accepted terms. Review the amount and interval before authorizing recurring payment. Existing subscriptions retain the accepted price unless a lawful, properly notified change is implemented through the provider. We do not treat a general update to this page as authorization for a new recurring price.
You can cancel future recurring billing through the billing controls in your account. Once cancellation is confirmed, paid access ordinarily continues through the paid period, subject to the accepted terms and lawful restrictions. Cancellation of future billing does not automatically refund a completed charge. Contact us if you cannot use the cancellation control or believe billing is incorrect. Additional Membership terms apply.
Prices, local currency estimates, and payment
The checkout identifies the actual price, billing currency, applicable interval, and any discount before payment. Memberships and individual course checkout use U.S. dollars. A certificate program may use another supported billing currency explicitly shown in its enrollment offer and checkout. A membership page may show an estimated equivalent in a local currency based on a country or browser-setting estimate, or on your selection. That display is a convenience and is not a promise that the payment provider will charge that currency or use the same exchange rate.
Reference exchange rates are periodically retrieved and can change. A card issuer or payment provider may apply its own conversion rate or fees. The amount and currency shown at checkout are the institute’s actual charge. Review it before confirming. Taxes or legally required charges, if applicable, must be disclosed as required for the purchase.
Stripe, PayPal, or another expressly offered provider processes payment under its applicable terms. A redirect or processing message does not itself prove payment; access is activated after verified payment and eligibility checks. Coupons and discounts have their stated eligibility, expiry, usage limit, and combination rules.
Cancellations, refunds, and mandatory consumer rights
The course-specific terms shown before enrollment identify the refund window, access period, minimum enrollment, and cancellation conditions. If the institute cancels a course, it provides a full refund of the course payment. Other refund requests are assessed under the accepted purchase terms and applicable law. See Refunds and cancellations and Course terms.
These terms do not remove a statutory cooling-off or withdrawal right, a remedy for a defective or misdescribed service, or another nonwaivable consumer protection. Where law allows a withdrawal right for digital content or services to be affected by immediate performance, the required separate information, express consent, and acknowledgment must be obtained; simply accepting these general terms is not that waiver.
To report a mistaken charge, request a refund, or exercise a withdrawal right, contact us with the order reference and the relevant details. Do not send a full payment-card number. A pending refund is not represented as completed until the provider confirms it.
Events, scholarships, and giving
Event listings state the available date, time zone, format, venue or online access, registration requirements, and other published conditions. A calendar listing alone does not guarantee admission. Private meeting links are for authorized participants. Material changes or cancellations are handled through the applicable registration terms and notice process.
Scholarship applications open only for approved awards with secured and allocated funding. Published criteria, deadlines, verification, decisions, award conditions, and the signed award agreement govern the program. An application does not guarantee an award.
Charitable giving is enabled only when the institute’s required recognition and arrangements have been confirmed. Eligibility for a tax deduction depends on the applicable law, the organization’s actual status, the payment, and your circumstances. Membership fees or tuition are not represented as charitable gifts merely because they support the institute. Donor-advised-fund recommendations remain subject to the sponsor’s approval and do not generate a second charitable contribution receipt from us.
External sources, technology, and availability
Links to official documents, news organizations, research, and other websites identify external sources. An external headline is not a statement that the institute endorses every claim in the linked publication. External sites and providers control their own services, terms, and privacy practices.
Translation and AI-assisted material can contain errors. We distinguish source material, editorial analysis, and illustrative imagery and use the review processes described in our editorial policies. Notify us of a material error. The English version of a signed agreement and any expressly designated controlling version remain subject to applicable law; an unreviewed machine translation does not amend that agreement.
We take reasonable steps to maintain service, but maintenance, connectivity, security events, provider failures, or other circumstances may interrupt access. This does not remove obligations concerning a paid service or the remedies available under applicable law. Contact us about a prolonged inability to access something you have purchased.
Ask GHRI provides automated explanations based on approved public institute sources. Its answers are educational information and can contain errors; they are not an official individual determination, legal advice, an assessment result, or a substitute for the linked source. Do not use it to submit confidential information or private exam material. Ask GHRI is unavailable within protected teaching and assessment areas.
Account restrictions and termination
We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to address a security risk, nonpayment, serious misconduct, unlawful use, or a material breach of applicable terms. We consider the circumstances and use proportionate measures. Where appropriate and lawful, we explain the reason and provide an opportunity to respond or correct the problem; urgent security or legal circumstances can require immediate action.
You may stop using the site and request account closure. Cancel a recurring subscription separately through the billing controls so future charges stop. Closure does not erase obligations already incurred or records that must be retained. Privacy requests are handled under the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Responsibility and legal protections
We are responsible for our own obligations under applicable law and the agreements we enter. Contributors are responsible for the accuracy and rights in material they submit. You remain responsible for your own decisions based on general educational information.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, we do not guarantee that every public page will be uninterrupted or free of error, or that general information will meet a particular personal purpose. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable consumer guarantees, fraud, or other mandatory duties. These terms do not impose a blanket waiver of privacy rights, statutory remedies, or access to a competent court or regulator.
A separate agreement may identify the applicable governing law and forum for that program. In the absence of such a valid provision, the applicable conflict-of-laws and jurisdiction rules determine those questions, with mandatory consumer protections preserved. These general terms do not require private arbitration or waive a class-action right.
Questions, complaints, and rights concerns
Contact the institute to report a service problem, accessibility barrier, safeguarding concern, suspected infringement, or misuse. Include the relevant page, order, or record reference and a clear explanation. For a copyright concern, identify the work and disputed material, explain your authority, and provide contact information. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information.
Use Privacy requests for personal-information rights. Use the editorial and publication-ethics procedures for corrections, authorship disputes, and research-integrity complaints. We review concerns through the relevant process. Nothing requires you to abandon an independent legal remedy or regulator complaint.

Updates and continuing effect
We may update these terms to reflect services, operational changes, or legal requirements. The date at the top identifies the current version. Material changes receive any additional notice or acceptance required by law or contract. Updated website terms do not retroactively alter a signed agreement, earned right, or accepted purchase.
If a provision cannot be enforced, it is applied only to the extent the law permits, and the other provisions remain effective where lawful. A failure to enforce a provision on one occasion is not a general waiver. These terms and the applicable specific agreements form the relevant arrangements for the services they cover.
